Workshops and Programs offered at SPCA-TV |
|
While Sun Prairie Cable Access Television is well known for its KIDS-4 program, SPCA-TV also has a lot to offer the community of Sun Prairie. All Sun Prairie residents are eligible to participate in the SPCA-TV workshops, designed to offer information on all aspects of video production. Through these workshops residents are offered not only the chance to expand their video skills, but also the chance to gain the knowledge necessary to become an independent producer for SPCA-TV. There are currently four workshops offered by SPCA-TV:
This workshop provides information on basic camcorder set-up and usage. This class covers what a producer needs to know filming away from the studio for all productions from sporting events to concerts. Participation in this workshop is necessary to obtain a SPCA-TV producer's card, which is required for equipment checkout. The session consists of small group instruction and is made up of an actual on-location production. Cost is $10 and size is limited to six.
Editing a program and giving it titles and credits creates a more finished, professional look. In this workshop, participants are given personal instruction on use of the video and computer equipment used to edit film while adding graphics and text to programs. This program meets two times for two hours at each meeting and is limited to six participants. The cost is $15.
An in-studio production utilizes the facilities at Sun Prairie Cable Access to the fullest. This class covers instruction on studio lighting, switching, studio sound and studio cameras. This is the same kind of production executed by many weekly shows at Sun Prairie Cable Access, as well as Madison news programs. This is excellent instruction for volunteers and independent producers alike. In-studio productions are common for both taped and live programs. The cost is $15 per person.
This new program, designed specifically for parents of KIDS-4 kids, is offered twice a year, and provides valuable information. The workshop includes a description of what goes on week to week in a KIDS-4 crew and instruction on how to use the KIDS-4 equipment. The class also gives parents the opportunity to become better acquainted with each other and with the SPCA-TV staff. The class meets once for two hours and is free of charge.
