"Street Life"

A Guide to Gang Awareness and Gang Prevention

Sun Prairie Cable Access has produced an informational program documenting the growing problems of gangs in schools and communities within the state of Wisconsin. After many months of hard work and dedication by all involved, "Street Life" made it’s premiere on both KSUN and KIDS-4.  The purpose of this video is to educate parents and children about the risks, warning signs, and prevention of gang related issues.  The program focuses on empowering parents with information about the early warning signs of gang involvement and more importantly, what they can do about it.  "Street Life" shows parents how they can greatly reduce the risk of their child joining a gang while showing kids the consequences of being part of this culture.  Interviews with local law enforcement, gang detectives, school officials, community members, and former gang members give insight into this ever growing issue.  This program was funded by a Dane County Youth Commission Grant that was awarded to Sun Prairie Cable Access as a youth prevention grant.  As part of our grant, Sun Prairie Cable Access distributed copies of the video to local schools, libraries, other cable access stations and other school districts in Wisconsin.
