Every 15 Minutes – Sun Prairie High School The
video entitled Every 15 Minutes – Sun Prairie High School premiered on KSUN-12.
For future viewing times look at our schedule.
This video takes a look at how drinking and driving can affect
a community. Eight members of KIDS-4, a local
cable access channel, had the opportunity to videotape a high school
assembly that informed the student
body about the effects of drinking and driving.
The assembly entitled Every 15 Minutes stems from an old
statistic that in this country, every fifteen minutes someone dies from an
alcohol related crash. The
camera crew captured several aspects of the program. They began the first day by filming a grim reaper who visited
several classrooms. Every
fifteen minutes he would remove one student from a class and they
represented the number of people who are killed each day by an alcohol
related crash. At ten
o’clock in the morning the entire school assembled outside to witness a
mock crash scene that involved a drunk driver and two passengers who
received aide from several emergency personnel.
The camera crew was able to get a close look as the local EMS
attended a victim who was thrown from the crashed vehicle.
At the same time local police officials questioned the driver of
the automobile, and the fire department attempted to remove a trapped
passenger The KIDS-4 crew collected the footage from the two days and two members of the crew sorted through the video clips and organized it into an informative video specific to the Sun Prairie experience entitled Every 15 Minutes – Sun Prairie High School. The two crewmembers David Knauf and Chris Kintner, both Sun Prairie high school students, incorporated several different aspects into the video. A narrator accompanies the video footage that explains what took place during the two days. Along with the video clips from the school the montage also includes personal reactions from students, faculty and parents who participated in the events. To
