KIDS-4 At the EAA 2004
For one week a year there is no place on earth that brings together all the exciting aspects of flight as completely as EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. KIDS-4 was there to cover the event on July 27th, 2004. Four kids, ages 10-12, took on the EAA AirVenture show and over 2,000 airplanes. KIDS-4 representatives were Andrew Sheely, Matt O'Connor, Zach Schlosser, Kelie Phillips, and adult volunteer Kathy Schlosser. These young reporters made up the team of the youngest journalists visiting the 2004 EAA AirVenture Show.
This is the fourth year KIDS-4 reporters have covered this event. This unique opportunity was provided through the cooperative efforts of Dick Knapinski-Director of Public Relations for the EAA in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and Sun Prairie Cable Access staff members Lindsy Giese and Rachel Packard.
The kids tackled all aspects of the air show, talking with pilots and air enthusiasts from around the world. The kids covered the AirVenture grounds, setting up interviews, filming press conferences, and vying with reporters from major networks for exclusive stories. Highlights from the day include talking with United States Air Force Representatives, interviewing members of the Liberty Parachute Team, taping the EAA Kickoff Rally press conference, going aboard the C-5 Galaxy, the U.S. military's largest aircraft and one of the largest cargo planes in the world. The kids finished up the day filming the EAA air stunt show.
